the HISTORY OF HEATHERWOOD

In 1979, 18 acres of rugged farm land was purchased in the Shibden Valley on the outskirts of Halifax.

Heatherwood was formed as a place where people could go to find peace through counselling and various activities on a working farm. A place where burdens could be lifted and people restored to wholeness.

A barn was built, the land reclaimed and sheep grazed the fields and heather.

In 2020 Andy and Sally converted the barn to their home and restored the piggery – now known as the Croft.

The Croft is now available to hire on a hourly basis.  It is fully equipped with kitchen, meeting room, wifi, AV facilities, outside seating and toilet. It is hoped the building will be hired for away days, workshops, team building / therapy sessions and will be used as a place to restore body, mind and soul.
